5 recommended resources for charities and non-profits looking for support with digital marketing
Moving from an agency to an NFP, I knew one of the things I would miss most was the breadth and depth of in-house digital marketing expertise from ridiculously talented colleagues (shout out to Brainlabs). I also went in knowing that the NFP and charity sector wouldn’t be top of the queue for support from big tech, whether that’s access to product betas, dedicated account managers, or event invites. And that’s not to throw any shade on the totally reasonable rationale for that, which is that commercially it makes sense to offer more support to more profitable clients.
I’ve pulled together a list of resources I’ve found helpful to draw on - because there is good stuff out there. And especially now events have become webinars rather than in-person, it’s really helped democratise attendance - so long as you know where to look to register!
Here’s a round up of my favourites...
1 - Facebook Insights Live
A monthly webinar series from Facebook that takes place on the last Wednesday of the month. There have been interesting speakers as well as useful consumer insights data.
2 - Media Trust events
Keep an eye on their page for upcoming digital marketing events. There have been some great ones, including in-person ‘Facebook for Good’ masterclasses with Facebook/Instagram where there’s support to learn more about in-platform tools.
3 - Twitter Marketing webinars
Twitter also has a rolling programme of webinars; the best place to find out about them is, unsurprisingly, on Twitter by following @TwitterBusiness and @TwitterMktgUK, as well as the hashtags #BrunchAndLearn and #CouchConference.
4 - Digital Charities Slack
This is a friendly and supportive Slack group for people working in the charity/NFP sector. You apply to join and it’s a great place for sharing best practice getting advice from within the sector.
5 - LinkedIn Live with Marketers
I’ll confess, I haven’t tuned into these because LinkedIn hasn’t been quite as high a priority as other channels recently, but webinars are promoted through the LinkedIn Business blog (there are also blogs for Talent, Sales and Learning).
